The Saved Schizophrenic

Sharing my experiences with faith and spreading the good word of god.

About Me

As I entered into an anxiety provoking conversation with the consultant psychiatrist, leading the pre-discharge meeting at a mental health institution close to home. I was desperate for a positive outcome regarding the returning to my home. The consultant went on to offer the inevitabilities of the outcomes to my life.

Firstly, drugs would consume me. I would be mugged, arrested or die to the powdered stimulants I had used as an addicted platform to escape pain. The better option, would be that the recently diagnosed Schizophrenia would consume me. Resulting in a ‘revolving door’ of hospital admissions. This heart-destroying conversation was received in my early twenties. If I responded well to the last choice treatment for resistive schizophrenia, there was a chance (not one you’d bet on!) my independence would result in me taking a bus to spend the money I received from the welfare scheme to buy cigarettes.

I would not have a family where I raised children. I would not be able to hold down any part-time occupation or voluntary scenario. My academic successes would be limited if non-existent. All these things were impossible. What the lead psychiatrist wasn’t aware on, is that with God, NOTHING is impossible!

Armed with little more than a Bible and a channel to write with, this is where my true healing began. How’s my story so far? My young daughters are amazing. My career in care is one I work tirelessly at. My academic qualifications comprise of a 2:1 in my Mental Health Nursing degree. The most exciting aspect is, I’m only at the start.

So this website will be the documentation of my journey with Christ. From the days where I’m elated, basking in the glory of the Lord to the days I struggle leaving my bedspace, I will share everything with you, my lovely reader.

If Jesus can Save me, He can certainly positively impact your life too.

Why I’m Grateful!

If I documented everything that causes me to be blessed, this would be a long (well, longer… sorry I got carried away!) piece of prose.
